We got a bird
I posted a little while ago about our difficulty in deciding on a pet for our children. The youngest has been asking for a while (ever since the sad demise of the fish which is 18months ago now) and on the weekend we bought our family a little bird, a peachface lovebird chosen by the boys.
The whole bird in a cage thing bothered me for a while but we can let this little guy out for a roam around the house and I figure that he has been bred for such a purpose and if we didn't buy him someone else would have and we will take very good care of him. There, bird in a cage justified.
He does seem pretty happy chirping away in the sun at the moment with plenty to eat and drink and wooden things for him to swing on, climb on and chew on.
The boys called him "Didier" after a football player and they also call him "Didi" or "Dids" for short.
It is nice having a new member in the family, someone else for us all to talk to and look after. He really is very cute and lovely to look at, small, pale green with this peachy colour on his head and around his beak and bright blue on his tail feathers.
Two days in and the pet thing is going well. Will keep you posted.
