What to do?

We all get so caught up in the decisions of our lives, both small and large. Wondering, examining and pondering what is the right thing for me, what should I decide? We consider things from all angles, research, daydream, meditate, ask for advice from friends, pray for answers.

It is difficult when we are in a state of unknowing or uncertainty. It makes us feel nervous or anxious and we wish things would sort themselves out or that we would just know deep inside the right choices to make.

But, talking to a friend this morning, made me see that the details, the decisions that we do finally make are not what is important in the end. What matters most is what we are doing with our minds at any given time, all the time.

Why? Because this is what is influencing our feelings and behaviour, our sense of wellbeing or otherwise in each moment. It is what we are holding in our minds that determines whether we are happy or not and whether we are creating future happiness or future suffering both for ourselves and those around us.

So, when we are faced with decisions perhaps we can look within and see what is in our minds while we are trying to make this particular choice. Is it worry or unease? Is it trust and faith? Is it love?

As I wrote below, if we keep love as our central motivating force, we can't go wrong.

Even if we make a choice that we later need to backtrack on, it doesn't matter. The details of life are not as important as we think. Perhaps we can lighten up and know that where we choose for our holidays or what career path we decide upon or whether to renovate the house or not (or insert more important decision here) doesn't really matter.

All that matters in the end is how much purity of heart we put into it, how much love we hold in our minds. Always.

Relax. Trust. Love.

Happy decision making, K.xxxx
